Our first Web Weekend saw over 300 participants join the fun, out of which only 10% were women. We also managed to have representation from a whopping 11 countries across the globe, but of the 10 speakers we had, only 2 were women. We know there are plenty of women doing amazing things in tech. Only 10% women participation is simply not ok.
We want to see better numbers on women at the Web Weekend Kathmandu (#wwktm) 2019. To encourage the participation of women, this year we are introducing women in tech (#wit) tickets, which offer all the same benefits of the regular ticket but at 30% discount! We hope the discounted price will make the conference more affordable for interested women. Help us by spreading the word to any woman you may know in tech.
